From a Cluttered Desk

Tammy CardwellI am Tammy Cardwell, she of the cluttered desk. (Hey, you think I'm kidding?!) I'm having a blast here in Blogland and invite to you to peruse my ramblings. Like a buffet, they offer variety - essentially whatever makes it to the top of the piles that sometimes clutter my brain. We'll eventually cover it all - homeschooling, God, our church, the Eclectic Homeschool Online, books I'm writing and publishing, conferences I speak at, the joys of grandmotherhood, and hopefully chocolate. Of course, this is only what's near the top now. Who knows what's in those piles?

There is also a link on this page that leads to a page where she will be selling toys and other assorted sundries. Right now that page contains a student clarinet.

Ending the Year

Filed under: Observations — TammyC @ 12:46 pm

December 26th starts that funny time of year. Most of us are just a tiny bit deflated after working so hard to make Christmas be everything we feel it should be, yet the year isn’t quite over. We’ve still got five days left in which we can make this year be everything we feel it should be. What do I still have left to do?

Are there relatives I missed seeing at Christmas? Do I need to give them a call? Has my volunteer work suffered? Should I do that organizing that I’ve been promising myself all year long? Now would certainly be a good time, since all of the evidence of my pre-Christmas shopping is mostly gone and we have all this new stuff to find homes for. Do I need to pay a little (LOT) more attention to my blogs? That’s a "Yes." Should I put out just a little more effort before the book is closed completely on 2006?

In my case, I know I have to put some hard work into the music our choir is doing at a big concert on January 3rd. Christmas and illness put a temporary stop to any serious practicing and now I have to play catch up if I’m to have it all note perfect by this Saturday’s rehearsal. I also have magazine deadlines coming up much more quickly than I’m comfortable with; it would be great if I could manage to get one of them taken care of before the end of the year and finally be able to say I’m ahead in that game.

There really is still much to do before 2006 is through.

Let’s Say Thanks

Filed under: Miscellanea — TammyC @ 12:16 pm

Xerox has a "Let’s Say Thanks" program that I encourage everyone to take part in. It only takes a few minutes to go to the site, select a postcard design, either choose a prewritten message or type in your own, and hit send. The postcard will then be delivered to a serviceman or woman who is serving in our armed forces overseas.

Can there be a better time of year to take this few minutes to bless them?
