I am Tammy Cardwell, she of the cluttered desk. (Hey, you think I'm kidding?!) I'm having a blast here in Blogland and invite to you to peruse my ramblings. Like a buffet, they offer variety - essentially whatever makes it to the top of the piles that sometimes clutter my brain. We'll eventually cover it all - homeschooling, God, our church, the Eclectic Homeschool Online, books I'm writing and publishing, conferences I speak at, the joys of grandmotherhood, and hopefully chocolate. Of course, this is only what's near the top now. Who knows what's in those piles?

New Articles - Reading Aloud
And here are two more new articles. Both of these address reading aloud to your children. Please, if you think reading aloud to your children is unimportant, take the time to read these articles. They will help you see that it is a vital part of a child’s development.

New Article - Exploring the Future
I’m working on adding a few new articles to the site today and this is the first.
Exploring the Future: I Want to Be a…? addresses an important issue - helping our children decide what they will be when they grow up. Whether we realize it or not, assisting our children in this area is part of our responsibility to "bring them up in the way they should go." Unfortunately, most young people only think they know what they want to do after graduation; in reality, the vast majority of the people I know now work in fields other than those they first pursued when entering college or the work force.
Why? As I explain in the article…
The reason most commonly given for multiple major changes in college students, and career changes in adults, is life experience. To be more accurate, I should perhaps say that the problem is a lack of life experience before making the "major" decision. This is something that is definitely in our control as parents!
It is in the control of all parents, but it is especially something homeschooling parents can deal with. Read the article. It will help you prepare your children for the road ahead.

What’s Coming
I’ll be doing something new soon - hopefully starting this evening.
I’ve been listing books on amazon.com for a while, but I never sold much through that site, plus the fees make it rough to make any money. Add to that the fact that they’re in the process of really messing things up for POD publishers and those who both write and read POD books, and I’m about ready to be done with them - well, more than ready to be done with them. Too, I have been selling my used books, but the bulk of my sales have resulted not from those amazon listings, but from mentions I’ve made here in my blog.
So, starting…as soon as I can get it together and start…I am going to begin listing my books for sale here, in blog entries. All of the prices will include standard, media mail shipping to any location in the U.S. and payments will be accepted through PayPal.

Tammy, what ARE you doing?!
You’re wondering about all the blog entries about blogs I recommend, right?
I explained it a while back, but it has been a while, so I thought I should speak up again. I’ve discovered, through researching page rank and other fascinating bits and pieces about succeeding on the Internet, that you actually do someone more of a favor if you link to them directly in a blog entry than you do if you link to them in a blogroll. So I’m working on getting my blogroll whittled down to a single link that will take you to the page containing all of the blogs I recommend. This means that, for a time, you’ll see more entries than usual, with many of those pointing to blogs. Hopefully you appreciate this instead of being bugged by it, because there are some fabulous blogs out there and if you’re like me you’ve probably never even glanced in my blog roll to notice them.

Too Busy
I happened to reread one of my articles last night and was hit in the face with just how appropriate it is right this minute.
Yes, my articles speak to me too. In fact, they usually speak to me before they speak to anyone else.
If you think there is even remotely a chance that you live a life that is too busy, check out Too Busy. It originally published at the Eclectic Homeschool Online, but believe me, this truth is not just for homeschoolers. It’s for everyone, especially those of us who are parents.
You can read most of my articles right here at TammyCardwell.net. You’ll find links to them on my Articles page.

Pocahontas Online
I announced a while back that I had begun work on prepping another antique book for online publication and today marks its first day online. Ten American Girls from History begins with Kate Dickinson Sweetser’s biography of Pocahontas: The Indian Girl of the Virginia Forest.
More chapters coming your way!
